NONPROFIT WRITING AND RESEARCH. I do research, writing, and strategic planning for nonprofits and foundations, primarily in the areas of the arts, media, religion, and criminal justice. Clients have included the Communications Network, the Ford Foundation, Philanthropy New York, GrantCraft, Active Voice, Public/Private Ventures, and the Columbia Center for Oral History. FREELANCE WRITING AND PRODUCING. My writing about the arts and travel has appeared in such publications as American Theatre Magazine, Esopus, Public Books, Out Traveler, and on "Studio 360." Click on the "Writing" tab at the top of this page.

VIDEO. Several of my short videos are at the "Videos" tab above. These videos have been screened at such festivals as the Frameline San Francisco International LGBT Film Festival, Outfest Los Angeles, PDX Fest, San Francisco Black Film Festival, and the Zeitgeist Film & Video Festival.

PREVIOUS WORK. Previously, I have been a researcher for playwright Anna Deavere Smith, news reporter for KPFA Radio, and counselor for homeless youth. I also used to coordinate a program in storytelling and oral history, for which I produced events, radio programs, and workshops. I have volunteered as a mediator and a Holocaust oral history interviewer.

DEGREES AND AWARDS. I have a bachelor's degree from Brown University in Russian Language and Literature and master's degrees from the Divinity School and the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. I was awarded a fellowship by the Echoing Green Foundation and have received numerous arts and public service grants.
